Frequently asked questions

How much does a collection cost?

Every job is different, so call us or ask for a free, no-obligation quote. It helps if you tell us what type of oil you have, roughly how much, and where you are.

Is BL Oils licensed to collect waste oil?

Yes. BL Oils Ltd is registered with the Environment Agency as an upper-tier waste carrier and dealer, registration number CBDU69834. You can check it yourself on the Environment Agency public register.

What paperwork do I get?

Every collection comes with the correct waste paperwork for your records. Waste oil is classed as hazardous waste, so this is normally a hazardous waste consignment note. Keep it safe, because it’s how you show you’ve met your duty of care. More on the rules in our waste oil disposal guide.

What types of oil do you collect?

All types of waste oil: engine and motor oil, gearbox and transmission oil, hydraulic oil, industrial and machine oils, compressor oil, heating and fuel oil residues, and marine waste oil such as bilge oil and slops. We also collect used oil filters and interceptor waste.

Do you collect cooking oil?

No. We don’t collect cooking oil or other used food oils. Please use a specialist cooking oil collector for those.

Do you collect waste oil from ships and boats?

Yes. Marine waste oil is a big part of our work, including larger jobs. We cover the ports of Hull, Goole, Immingham and Killingholme. See marine waste oil collection.

Do you empty oil interceptors?

Yes. We collect interceptor waste (the oily water, oil and silt from oil/water interceptors and separators) from forecourts, car parks, wash bays, workshops and industrial sites. See interceptor waste.

Do you offer a 24-hour emergency call-out?

Yes. Our phone is answered 24/7, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. For anything urgent, call 07785 921493 any time. See emergency waste oil collection.

How much oil do you need before you’ll collect?

Get in touch and tell us roughly how much you’ve got, whether that’s a few containers, some drums or a bulk tank. We’ll tell you straight away what we can do.

Do you take used oil filters too?

Yes. We can collect used oil filters alongside your waste oil. See oil filter disposal for how to store them until we arrive.

How should I store waste oil until it’s collected?

Use sealed containers or a suitable tank on a drip tray or bund, away from drains. Keep different oils separate where you can, and don’t mix them with water, antifreeze or solvents. Mixed loads are harder to recycle and may need to be handled differently.

Do you offer waste oil collection near me?

If you’re anywhere in Yorkshire (North, South, West or East), Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire or Lincolnshire, yes. Call or WhatsApp 07785 921493 with your postcode and what you’ve got, and we’ll give you a free, no-obligation quote.
