All your garage waste, one collection
A busy workshop produces more than just waste oil. Every service and repair leaves used filters, old coolant, brake fluid and oily rags, and they’re all hazardous waste. They can’t go in a general waste skip, and they have to be collected by a licensed carrier.
BL Oils is a Doncaster-based, Environment Agency upper-tier waste carrier and dealer (CBDU69834). We collect garage and workshop waste across all of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, so you can clear your waste oil and these other wastes in one visit, with the paperwork to match.
What we collect from garages and workshops
- Waste oil: engine, gearbox, transmission and hydraulic oil (see garage waste oil collection)
- Antifreeze and coolant drained from cooling systems (antifreeze disposal)
- Brake fluid from brake and clutch fluid changes
- Used oil filters (see oil filter disposal and our oil filter guide)
- Oily rags and wipes from day-to-day workshop work
Also have contaminated fuel from a misfuel, or a forecourt oil interceptor that needs emptying? We can do those too.
We don’t collect cooking oil. For used cooking oil from kitchens and takeaways, please use a specialist cooking oil collector.

Keep each waste separate
Keeping wastes apart makes them safer to store and easier to deal with properly. Mixing them can also turn a simple collection into a more difficult one.
- Waste oil: in a waste oil tank, drums or IBCs, with no coolant, brake fluid, fuel or water added
- Antifreeze and coolant: in its own sealed, labelled drum or container
- Brake fluid: in its own sealed, labelled container, because it absorbs water and shouldn’t be mixed with oil
- Oil filters: drained, then kept in a lidded filter drum or bin
- Oily rags: in a lidded metal bin, away from heat and sparks
Keep containers under cover and on a bund or drip tray, and leave clear access for collection day.
Why it matters
As the business producing the waste, you have a duty of care to store it safely and hand it to someone authorised to take it. For hazardous waste, that means keeping a consignment note for every collection. Our registration, CBDU69834, can be checked on the Environment Agency’s public register. See compliance & licence and waste oil disposal.
| Waste | Typical EWC code |
|---|---|
| Waste engine, gear and lubricating oil | 13 02 05* |
| Antifreeze containing hazardous substances | 16 01 14* |
| Brake fluid | 16 01 13* |
| Oil filters | 16 01 07* |
| Oily rags and wipes | 15 02 02* |
Typical codes only. We’ll confirm the right code with you before collection. An asterisk (*) means hazardous waste.

Frequently asked questions
Do you collect antifreeze and brake fluid?
Yes. We collect used antifreeze, coolant and brake fluid from garages and workshops across all of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Keep each one in its own sealed, labelled container.
Can you collect everything in one visit?
Yes. We can collect waste oil, antifreeze and coolant, brake fluid, used oil filters and oily rags on the same visit, with one set of paperwork.
Can I mix antifreeze or brake fluid with my waste oil?
No. Keep them separate. Mixing wastes makes them harder to deal with properly and can complicate the collection.
How should I store oily rags?
In a lidded metal bin, away from heat and sparks, and separate from your liquid wastes.
Do you offer regular collections?
Yes. We can set up regular collections to suit how much waste your workshop produces, or do one-off clearances.
How much does it cost?
Every workshop is different, so we give you a free, no-obligation quote. Tell us what you have, roughly how much, and your postcode. Call or WhatsApp 07785 921493.
