Hazardous oil waste collection, done properly
Waste oil and oily waste are classed as hazardous waste in England, so they can’t go in a skip or general waste bin, and they have to be moved by a registered carrier with the right paperwork. BL Oils is a Doncaster-based specialist in oil-related hazardous waste, established in 2000 and registered with the Environment Agency as a waste carrier and dealer (CBDU69834).
We collect hazardous oil waste from businesses and farms across all of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, and we provide the correct hazardous waste consignment note with every collection.
The hazardous waste we collect
We focus on oil and oily waste. That means:
- Waste engine, gear and hydraulic oils from vehicles, plant, machinery and farm equipment
- Cutting oil and soluble coolant from machining and engineering (cutting oil disposal)
- Oily water from wash bays, sumps and bunds (oily water disposal, bund emptying)
- Interceptor and separator contents (interceptor waste)
- Heat transfer oil from thermal fluid systems (heat transfer oil disposal)
- Kerosene and contaminated fuel (kerosene disposal, contaminated fuel)
- Residues from old oil tanks, emptied before removal (oil tank emptying)
- Used oil filters (oil filter disposal)
What we don’t take: we’re oil specialists, so we don’t collect general chemicals, solvents, paints, asbestos, clinical waste or cooking oil. If you have those, use a specialist for that waste stream.
Describe the waste
What it is, where it came from, roughly how much and how it’s stored. A photo on WhatsApp helps.

Collected with a consignment note
We collect it and complete the hazardous waste consignment note with you.

Consignment notes and your duty of care
When hazardous waste leaves your site, it must travel with a hazardous waste consignment note. The note describes the waste, its waste code, who produced it, who is carrying it and where it’s going. You keep your copy as proof that you handed it to an authorised carrier. We fill in the correct consignment paperwork on every collection, so you’re covered under your duty of care.
Not sure what’s needed? Read consignment notes explained, is waste oil hazardous waste?, do I need to register as a hazardous waste producer? and our duty of care checklist.
Who uses our hazardous waste collection
We work mainly with businesses and farms, including garages and workshops, hauliers and fleet depots, plant hire firms, factories and engineering firms, petrol stations, farms and councils.
Storing hazardous oil waste safely
- Keep each waste in a sealed, labelled container or a bunded tank
- Keep oil, oily water, coolant and fuel separate where you can, as mixing can make disposal harder
- Store everything away from drains and watercourses, with spill kit to hand
- Keep your consignment notes on file
