HWRC oil banks and tanks
Household waste recycling centres often have oil banks or tanks where residents leave used engine oil. We can empty them on a regular schedule, sized to how quickly they fill, so they don’t overflow on a busy weekend. We can also collect oily wastes such as used oil filters, where your site keeps them separate.
Fleet and highways depots
Council vehicle workshops, gritter and highways depots and transport yards produce waste engine, gear and hydraulic oil from servicing. We can collect from tanks, drums and IBCs, and empty oil interceptors on wash bays and yards. See also garage waste oil collection.
Waste transfer stations
Transfer stations and waste sites that bulk up waste oil need it moved on reliably. We can collect bulked waste oil from tanks and containers and take it to a permitted facility for recovery or treatment. Read about waste oil recycling.
Good storage between collections
- Keep oil banks and tanks bunded, labelled and covered from rain
- Don’t let cooking oil, coolant, fuel or solvents go into the waste oil bank
- Keep oil filters and oily rags separate from liquid oil
- Leave clear access for a tanker on collection day
