Waste oil collection for forklift hire and servicing

Hydraulic, engine and transmission oils, filters, oily rags and coolant collected from forklift hire, sales and servicing companies across all of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

Waste oil collection for forklift hire and servicing firms

Every forklift has a hydraulic system for lifting and tilting the mast. Diesel and LPG trucks also have an engine, a transmission and a cooling system, and electric trucks still have hydraulics and drive gearboxes. So every service, repair, oil change and hose or seal job leaves used oil, filters and oily rags that have to be collected by a licensed carrier.

BL Oils is a Doncaster-based, Environment Agency upper-tier waste carrier and dealer (CBDU69834). We collect waste oil from forklift hire, sales and servicing companies, and from businesses that run their own fleet of trucks, across all of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

What we collect

  • Hydraulic oil from mast, tilt, side-shift and attachment systems, including full system changes
  • Engine oil from diesel and LPG counterbalance trucks and telehandlers
  • Transmission, gearbox and axle oils, including drive unit oil from electric trucks
  • Used oil, hydraulic and fuel filters (oil filter disposal)
  • Oily rags, wipes and absorbent pads from the workshop
  • Coolant and antifreeze drained during servicing
  • Interceptor waste from yard and wash bay drainage (interceptor waste)

Filters, rags and coolant are the same kind of waste a garage produces, and we collect them on the same visit as your oil. See garage waste collection.

We don’t collect cooking oil. For used cooking oil from kitchens and takeaways, please use a specialist cooking oil collector.

Workshop and depot collections

Most forklift firms service trucks in their own workshop, or have mobile engineers who bring waste back to a depot at the end of the day. That’s usually where we collect. Our tanker can pump out a bulk waste oil tank, and we take drums, IBCs, filter bins, rag bins and coolant containers on the same visit, on a regular schedule or as a one-off.

Hire fleets and refurbishment

When trucks come back off hire, or are refurbished for resale, they often get a full fluid change. That can mean a lot of hydraulic and engine oil in a short time. Let us know when a busy period is coming and roughly how much oil to expect, and we’ll plan the collection around it.

Running your own fleet?

Warehouses, distribution centres and factories that maintain their own forklifts produce the same waste. We collect from those sites too. See commercial and industrial waste oil collection.

Good storage between collections

  • Keep waste oil in a bunded tank or sealed, labelled drums or IBCs
  • Don’t mix oil with water, coolant, fuel or solvents
  • Keep coolant in its own sealed container
  • Drain filters and keep them in a lidded container
  • Keep oily rags in a lidded metal bin

Paperwork

Waste oil is hazardous waste. Every collection comes with a hazardous waste consignment note, so your duty of care is covered. Our registration, CBDU69834, can be checked on the Environment Agency’s public register. Read is waste oil hazardous waste? and consignment notes explained.
